Restore Washington 2020

Welcome to Restore Washington 2020

RESTORE WASHINGTON - 2020

First, thank you for all your efforts and your patience. Doing something of this quality and magnitude does not happen overnight. We have proven that with a small group we can leverage a lot of signatures in a short period of time. We have also proven that mobilizing on an issue like R 88 and now R 90 can change history. You did that. Now it’s time for our next adventure!

Our plan going forward –The 14 day Emergency Powers Act – Due to the abuse of Governor Inslee's Emergency Proclamations during the COVID-19, we introduce  I-1114

This Initiative would limit emergency regulations based on public health, safety, or welfare and emergency proclamations issued by the Governor to 14 days unless extended by the Legislature. Emergency proclamations would be limited to a single county and A proclamation of a state of emergency must identify the specific facts giving rise to the emergency in the area covered by that proclamation and the specific facts under which order will be determined to have been restored in the area affected. would have to identify specific facts. Any person could challenge an emergency proclamation in the affected county; judicial review would be expedited and could not be appealed. Violation of emergency orders would be reduced to a misdemeanor.

Fund Raising – while we want to remain as grassroots and voluntary as possible some costs will need to be covered. As many of you know initiatives are very expensive and to run a successful campaign, we need to raise at least $20,000 to cover the initial launch costs. Expenses include legal review and drafting, printing and postage for several thousand petitions. None of these funds will be used personal gain. We understand that some simply can’t help financially and that’s ok, your help will be appreciated when it is time to collect signatures. If additional money is needed, we will let you know but our goal is to be the most efficient organization ever in this respect.

Last but not least, building this team has been a long process and 1000’s of hours has been invested. The larger the team the easier and faster we can deliver quality single subject initiatives or quickly react to bad legislation with referendums. Since initiative signing is still a few months out now is the time to invite and welcome everybody you know. If everyone brought just two more people on board, we would be over 100,000 members. Think about that. While we can all hope for a better legislature or different leadership in Olympia, isn’t it nice to know you will have an insurance policy to cover it all in case things do not work out. With your help we will insure they don’t have the last word. You will.

Blessings,

Mike, Cary, Shelley, Steve and Susan
